Assertiveness: • Defining the assertive mindset • Passive, aggressive, passive aggressive and assertive behaviours • Behaving assertively Building Trust: • The Trust Equation • What is my trustworthiness score? Empathy: • Empathetic behaviour • Using listening skills to build rapport and empathy • Empathy mapping Collaborative Conflict Management: • Five approaches to managing conflict • Principled negotiation – the key points Chairing and facilitating meetings effectively: • The purpose and the agenda • The rule of three • Facilitation skills During this workshop, we would recommend the use of actors to provide tangible, relevant examples of challenging conversations handed well and poorly. The attendees would not be required to engage in any roleplay but would watch the actors and then provide feedback based on what they have just seen. The use of actors makes the discussion and debate regarding difficult conversations more practical and less theoretical, which helps attendees better apply what they have learned. In order to create at least two realistic scenarios, we would need to work with you and a member of the intended audience to answer the following questions: • The scenario itself – a typical difficult/challenging conversation • What are both parties thinking? • What emotions does this trigger? • How does this affect both parties’ behaviour? • What is the impact of the situation being managed poorly?
