The industry standard for computer support technicians

The CompTIA A+ certification is the industry standard for computer support technicians. The international, vendor-neutral certification which proves competence in areas such as installation, preventative maintenance, networking, security and troubleshooting. This course will prepare delegates for the CompTIA A+ exam, which they can take at their leisure.

This course is run as a fast track over 5 days, concentrating on the conceptual and practical aspects of both CompTIA A+ 220-1001 and 220-1002. Please note: Additional home study will be required for those wishing to sit the CompTIA A+ exams and exams are entirely optional.

Who is this course for

Computer Service Technicians, Field Support Technicians, Help Desk Technicians, Network Support Technicians, PC Technicians, Service Centre Technicians, Hardware Installation Coordinators or anyone wishing to gain a fundamental knowledge of all aspects of operating systems that will allow them to carry out everyday support tasks.

Purpose of the course

This course provides a sound basis for any individual needing support skills in an IT department. Skills including PC hardware and peripheral maintenance, operating system support and networking concepts. The course includes plenty of practical hands-on exercises to re-enforce learning and covers material necessary to take the CompTIA A+ exam.

You will learn how to


  • dentify all the Hardware components within a PC

  • Build a PC

  • Install and configure an Operating System

  • Support and troubleshoot common PC problems

Prerequisites

This is an entry level IT course. Delegates should have some experience of using a PC. Disk navigation using Explorer and general desktop use would also be beneficial.
